Sims 4 PlantSim
This feature was in the first version of the game, and then it was reintroduced in Patch 42 in Sims 4 as a temporary lifestate, till the PlantSim challenge wasn’t complete. To make your sim’s transformation process smooth, read this Sims 4 Plant Sims guide carefully.
How to Complete a Plant a Sim Scenario
The first thing you need to do is create an adult or older sim in CAS of any gender. Then the next thing is to select a lot to live in, and the scenario can begin now. If you wish to change the lot’s traits, then you can choose the homey or great soil trait.
There are several things you need to do before moving on to the next step.
- Eat the PlantSim’s forbidden fruit from the sim’s inventory.
- Ensure your sims talk to the plants 5x more.
- Harvest a perfect quality plant.
- Satisfy their water needs 5x.
- Absorb 5x solar energy from plants.
- 25x photosynthesizing by absorbing the sunlight.
- Care for plants x99 as a PlantSim.
Now let’s go over each of these points in detail.
1. Eat the Forbidden Fruit
Open your sim’s inventory, and you’d find four forbidden fruits there. When your sim eats them, they’d transform into a PlantSim, but the fruit’s effect would only last for 4 sim days.
Once the effects ends, the sims would receive a Wilted moodlet and they’d have 18 hours to eat the fruit again, or else they’d lose the challenge. So keep the forbidden fruit planted beforehand, so you don’t face a shortage.
2. Have Your PlantSims Talk to Plants
From the Sims 4 Buy Mode, buy a patch of land and purchase seeds by clicking on the land. You can also buy Starter Seed Packs, such as Starter Fruits to plant. Once you plant the seeds, click on it to talk to the plant and when you do it five times, your goal will be accomplished.
3. Harvest from a Good Quality Plant
When growing a plant, there are five stages: Normal, Nice, Excellent, Magnificent, and Perfect. To reach the last stage, it’s essential to care and tend to the plant, so that it evolves and its quality is improved. You’ll notice your plan sparkling, which indicates that it’s ready to evolve. Now you can harvest this perfect quality plant.
4. Satisfy Water Needs
You can satisfy your PlantSim’s water needs in various ways, such as showering, swimming, washing hands, drinking water, playing in the rain, or other water-related activities. Repeating any of these activities five times would complete this step.
5. Absorb Solar Energy from Plants
As soon as the plants reach the second stage of their growth, you can click on it to absorb solar energy five times a day and finish another task. The hunger needs of your sim would become full, but once you absorb the energy from the plant, it’ll go back to the previous stage. For instance, absorbing energy from a tree would transform it into a plant again.
6. Photosynthesize by Absorbing Sunlight
Now that your sim’s water needs are also fulfilled, it’s time for them to photosynthesize. But you need to do this 25 times a day for the goal to complete, and this would also fill your sim’s hunger bar.
Due to the change in seasons, there might be times when the sun won’t rise, but you must travel to another world or location to get sunlight or absorb solar energy from plants till then; otherwise, you’ll lose your progress.
7. Care for Plants as a PlantSim
Sims would have to look after their plants 99 times a day, just shy of a 100. You’d have to harvest, water, weed, and keep them bug-free.
Other Requirements for Sims 4 Planting
Apart from these requirements mentioned above, there are other things as well that you must keep in mind before delving into this character.
1. You Need to be a Level 10 Gardener
To turn your sim into a PlantSim, you’d need to reach level 10 in gardening skills, and doing this would help you unlock rare plant seeds that you can purchase for a 1000 simoleans from the Build Mode. These seeds would allow you to acquire Magic Beans that would help you transform into a PlantSim.
You can also cheat your way to reach the required skill level by clicking Ctrl + Shift + C and type “testingcheats true.” After this, input the cheat code “stats.set_skill_level_Major_Gardening 10,” which would allow you to jump to the desired level.
2. Plant a Mystical Magic Bean Portal Drink
As mentioned earlier, the rare plant seeds would offer you Magic Beans, but you’d need to buy several seed packs to get all the magic beans. There are a total of six magic beans –
- Red Angry Bean
- Purple Playful Bean
- Navy Sad Bean
- Orange Uncomfortable Bean
- Pink Flirty Bean
- Blue Confident Bean
Once you collect all the beans, buy the Magical Plant Sim Stump for 410 Simoleons. Then plant the stump and put all the six beans in it, and watering the stump once would lead to the growth of a Mystical Magic Bean Portal Tree.
3. Limited Time as a PlantSim
Being a PlantSim is a temporary state and you can only live as this character for 5 days. Every time you eat a forbidden fruit, you’ll become a PlantSim for 5 days again. It gives you more ways to die, such as if you don’t drink or wash yourself, you would become parched. Your sim’s hair would start turning grey as your PlantSim begins to wilt. Basically, if you don’t fulfill any of your sim’s needs, they’d die.
DLC Alternative to Being a PlantSim
If you don’t want to go through the whole process of becoming a PlantSim, then you can try this alternative DLC “The Sims 4:Cool Kitchen Stuff.” This is a paid DLC, which would help you acquire an ice cream maker.
Sims with level 8 in cooking skills can make plant matter ice cream and eating it would give them an appearance of a PlantSim, but they’ll still act like normal sims with no special requirements.
Soon after this transition, they would feel like being outside, but it’ll be a one time thing. So this way, you can enjoy this feature without going through a lot of trouble.
Conclusion
Being a Sims 4 PlantSim sounds exciting, until you learn about all the instructions that you need to follow. But don’t let it deter you from your path because taking up this challenge, even if it’s for five days, would help you break your routine game and try something new.
